The country takes great pride in its eco-friendly and socially sustainable tourism, which will be the tour's focus, alongside experiencing the highlights of Costa Rica on this stunning stretch of coastline. On your first day, you’ll visit local rural communities, including an eco-farm in the Puntarenas Province, where you’ll fully immerse yourself in rural Costa Rican culture, learn how the farm operates, and discover how to prepare authentic Costa Rican cuisine. Next, you’ll journey to Ensenada Wildlife Refuge, a breathtaking stretch of protected mangrove forest that provides some of the finest birdwatching opportunities in the world, along with chances to observe crocodiles and howler monkeys as you glide through the enchanting forests by boat—an indispensable part of any wildlife holiday in Costa Rica. From surfing at the world-renowned Santa Teresa one day to zipping through the warm air on a wire while the jungle canopy stretches out beneath you, you will discover magical waterfalls, atmospheric villages, and stunning beaches all the way to Jaco, where your once-in-a-lifetime adventure concludes. In addition to the adrenaline-pumping activities, incredible food, and breathtaking scenery you’ll encounter, this tour presents an opportunity to delve deeply into Costa Rica and discover hidden gems off the tourist trail that you might otherwise miss. Monteverde Cloud Forest

Today, your shuttle will pick you up early in the morning to take you to the cloud forest of Monteverde, with a stopover at the Poás Volcano, an active stratovolcano standing at 2,708 metres (8,885 ft). The volcano's crater spans over a mile across and is 1,050 feet deep. It has erupted 40 times since 1828, most recently in April 2017. At the volcano, we will have time to enjoy the impressive main crater with its sulphur fumaroles. Finally, your shuttle will take you to the cloud forest of Monteverde. The journey to reach the mountain, which is 1,440 metres above sea level, atop Costa Rica’s continental divide, brings you to the much cooler climate of Monteverde and Santa Elena. Monteverde - Zip lining and hanging bridges

In the morning, you will embark on the canopy (ziplining) tour, where you’ll experience an adrenaline rush as you swing from platform to platform, attached to a harness, gliding along the longest and highest cables in the area. Simultaneously, you can enjoy panoramic views that can only be seen from high above. Alternatively, you may choose to stroll over the hanging bridges for a calmer experience atop the forest canopy. You will have the entire afternoon to explore the area, including the small and quaint town of Santa Elena, which is filled with delightful restaurants and charming artisan shops. The nearby forest boasts a remarkable amount of biodiversity. A walk through the cloud forest in Monteverde reveals a lush garden of mosses, ferns, flowers, and epiphytes growing thickly on every tree. Clouds drift in and settle among the slopes, giving the plants the required continuous moisture. Dangling roots and vines sweep across the trails, while the sounds of birds and other creatures echo throughout the forest. As sunset descends upon the forest, its nocturnal animals genuinely awaken. You will enjoy a night walk at Valle Escondido Preserve, one of the pioneering Night Tours in Monteverde, which began 18 years ago. It remains one of the best due to the authenticity of the nature experiences and the presence of local certified guides. Experience Authentic Monteverde

Established in 1972, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve has long been regarded as one of Costa Rica’s most treasured places. Originally comprising 4,000 hectares, this private reserve protects a delicate and sadly diminishing ecosystem: the tropical cloud forests. Following the reserve’s creation, the Tropical Science Centre continued to secure the financial and human resources necessary to expand, consolidate, and effectively protect the reserve's current area of 10,500 hectares. You will embark on a hike while experiencing ecotourism with our professional, friendly, and knowledgeable guides. Explore the wonders of the forest and deepen your connection with nature by learning about its diverse species. In the afternoon, the experience continues. You will enjoy coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane tours at the Don Juan Coffee Farm! The coffee tour commences with the fascinating history of coffee worldwide, followed by its history in our country and its significance in Costa Rica’s development. During this part of the tour, we will witness all the processes involved in coffee production, from the seed to the delicious final product: a freshly steaming cup of coffee. The second segment of this tour is the famous chocolate tour, the perfect complement to coffee. You will learn about its contribution to preserving the traditions and culture of our country. The third part of the tour will focus on sugar cane, where you’ll discover its history, plantations, different harvesting methods, processing, and the creation of various products, and you’ll have the opportunity to experience crafting sugar cane juice by hand. Local farm visit and cooking class

Transfer to the Pacific coast, with a stopover in Zapotal of Miramar in Puntarenas province, is a small rural community of 100 inhabitants. Dairy products are the main economic activity, but a few families have ventured into authentic rural tourism: you will visit an ecological farm where everything is organically produced. You will learn about the wastewater purification process, how to feed a biodigester with pigs, raise chickens organically, and maintain an organic garden with medicinal plants. Most importantly, you will learn how to cook in the Costa Rican style at Betty’s house! Your journey in Costa Rica continues as you approach the Tropical Dry Forest of Ensenada Wildlife Refuge. This privately owned sanctuary is managed by a family that engages in various economic activities, including salt production and agriculture. As a result of their efforts, the mangrove and coastal areas have undergone significant reforestation, making this site an exceptional location for nature lovers, particularly bird watchers. Explore the mangrove forests

Mangroves are vital in marine ecosystems, acting as nurseries for aquatic species and functioning as natural water purifiers. The wildlife found in this ecosystem is both unique and captivating. Villa San Ignacio has been renovated to revive its original rustic charm. Aurora Cabins are a magical way to experience the wintry star-filled sky and the Northern Lights, while lying comfortably in the warm bed. Location

The tour begins in Alajuela, heading south through Abangaritos, Santa Teresa, the Central Pacific Coast and then down to Jaco.

All transport is provided, including all ferries and transfers from accommodation to accommodation, so you can simply relax and watch the stunning scenery unfold before you.

On your final day, you will be driven back to the airport in San Jose.
